Imagine a world where you are among a small group of survivors in the whole of Singapore… no, make that the world. A world where you are trapped within the dark confines of an old abandoned school with other fearful individuals – some brave and courageous, some with a streak of madness, some suicidal, and all self serving.
Out there hordes of blood sucking vampires sought to break down the last vestiges of the defense perimeters serving as the last and only barrier between them and you. Together with former industrialist Maggie Tan, her sidekick technician Morton, crazed vampire hunter Grace and 149 other survivors, you trudge through the apocalytic Old School looking for a way out, and praying for a chance to survive.
Old School is the headquarters of the quasi-religious group – Quiddists – led by the charismatic Chester Rickwood, who believed in channelling the natural energy of his followers. Looking for answers, decide if you can trust the mythical Quinn, a vampire hunter whose name has become folk legend, or choose to follow Maggie or Chester Rickwood.
Welcome to Pandemic – They Only Come At Night, an interactive, multimedia drama and installation showpiece, where YOU are part of the play. Part of the Singapore Arts Fest program this year, Pandemic is the brain child of Slung Low, an award-winning company from the United Kingdom that specializes in making theatre work in unusual spaces.
Ushered into Old School with nothing more than a map, an emergency light and a pair of headphones, experience the thrill and shrill of the night as you, together with other members of the audience, walk through this installation art piece, listening in with special headphones to the intricately woven storyline told over recorded set pieces and live audio, surrounding yourself with real life actors who will guide you……. either to survival, or the unsavory death between the fangs of the blood sucking horde of vampires.
If you fancy being kept in the dark – literally, and your chances with vampires, you will love this interactive, immersive theatrical experience.
They only come at night: Pandemic opens today (22nd May) and continues till the 27th may. For ticketing details and exact showtimes, visit the Singapore Arts Festival page for more details.
